Thursday September 3, 2026: Our Local Phone Meeting Is Changing Days
A big change is coming! Our local telephone conference call meeting is changing their meeting day. Throughout the month of August the group will be meeting on Fridays, as usual. But in September, the group will begin meeting on Thursdays.
Telephone conference call meetings are an excellent resource to continue growing in Recovery. If you’re not able to make an in-person meeting due to scheduling conflicts, weather, or health problems, a meeting is just a phone call away! Keep dialing in a little before 7:30 pm on Friday evenings, and mark your calendar to switch to a new day of the week on Thursday, September 3rd:
Monday September 7, 2026: Holiday Meeting Changes and Confirmations
Keep an eye on this space to learn of any holiday-related meeting changes, confirmations, or cancellations:
The Monday Waterville GA group will not meet on Labor Day, Monday September 7.
The Monday Bloomington Women Preferred GA group will have their regular meeting at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 7. The Monday Eagan GA group will have their regular meeting at 7:30 pm on Monday, September 7. The Monday North Metro (Brooklyn Center) GA group will have their regular meeting at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 7. The Monday Woodbury GA group will have their regular meeting at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 7.
Intergroup is (usually) a monthly meeting when GA group representatives share information with each other, as well as discuss upcoming events and needs in the Minnesota GA fellowship. Any GA member is welcome to attend, and every GA group in Area 8A can send a representative to vote on the issues. If your GA home group does not currently have an Intergroup representative, please contact [email protected] to find out how your group can participate. The next Intergroup meeting will be on Saturday September 12, 2026 at 3:00 pm. The meeting will be held by Zoom, so no matter where you are in the world, you can join in the conversation. Saturday September 12, 2026: Saturday Night Speaker Meeting @ St. Alban’s
The Saturday Night Speaker Meeting is an excellent place to continue your growth in recovery. Each month, a different GA group sponsors the event, and arranges the speakers. The meeting begins with readings from GA and Gam-Anon literature, and then two or more speakers share their stories of addiction and recovery.
Doors open at 6:30 pm for fellowship and snacks. The meeting begins at 7:30 pm. It’s free to attend, and donations are accepted to pay for room rental, snacks, and coffee. The speaker meetings are open to all GA members, Gam-Anon members, family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who wants to learn more about gambling addiction and recovery. The dates and sponsors for the year are:
September 12th: Meeting sponsored by the Tuesday Cottage Grove GA group (pls note that this is the second Saturday) October 3rd: Meeting sponsored by the Monday Eagan GA group November 7th: Meeting sponsored by the Friday Burnsville GA group December 5th: Holiday cookie exchange and call-up meeting
GA literature is for sale at the speaker meeting, so you can purchase key tags, medallions, combo books, blue books, and more.

Monday September 14, 2026: Pinning & Potluck @ Eagan GA
Celebrate milestones in Recovery with two pinnings and a potluck! The event will be hosted by the Monday Eagan GA group.
The event will be held on Monday, September 14th. The potluck begins at 6:30 pm (please bring a dish to share), and the meeting with pinnings will follow at 7:30 pm. The location is Peace Church, 2180 Glory Drive, Eagan, MN 55122. Spread the word and we’ll see you there!
Saturday October 17, 2026: Chili Feed, Game Day, & Trustee Fundraiser
It's a fall favorite: spicy chili and fun board games! Whip up a batch of your best chili (or a sweet dessert) and make your way to the Twin Lakes Alano Club. Chili toppings and fixings will be provided, as well as cornbread, coffee, and water. Soda will be available for purchase.
The address is the Twin Lakes Alano Club, 4398 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, 55429. The hours of the event will be 3:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 17. This is an open event, so all GA members, Gam-Anon members, family, and friends are welcome. And, it's a Trustee fundraiser; a $10 donation is suggested.
Sep 17, 18, & 19 2027: GA 70th Anniversary Conference @ Glendale, California
GA will celebrate its 70th anniversary in September 2027, and there will be an international conference in Glendale, CA to commemorate the occasion. It’s going to be big, with banquets, workshops, dancing, and fellowship. GA & Gam-Anon members from around the world will attend!
The Saturday Night Speaker Meeting at St. Alban's in Edina is an important and cherished part of our Area 8A GA Fellowship. Geno T., Diane A., and Tom S. are leading efforts to strengthen connections between this speaker meeting and individual GA groups. Groups are asked to sponsor a monthly speaker meeting. Sponsoring includes:
**Provide a speaker for a 30-40 minute share, or two or more speakers for shorter times. Speakers should have a minimum of 1 year of abstinence. **Provide someone to read the Daily Reflection and talk about the reflection for 5 minutes **Choose readers for GA & Gam-Anon literature **Arrive early to help set up the room and make coffee **Bring treats **Help clean up after the meeting
Step Twelve Opportunity: Carry the Message of Hope
There’s an ongoing effort to carry the message of hope to still-suffering compulsive gamblers in both a metro-area hospital, and a suburban correctional facility. Speakers are needed! This is an excellent way to practice the 12th Step of our Recovery program. Click here for more details, and volunteer your time and talents.
GA Literature Sales, Digital Options, & Free Downloads!
If you need Blue Books, key tags, medallions, or other literature, and you want to save money on shipping, you can purchase items at the Saturday Night Speaker Meeting at St. Alban’s in Edina. The literature sales table will be open for business at 6:30 pm. Bring cash or a check to purchase the literature.
And, several pieces of literature are now available for downloading from the GamblersAnonymous.org website. The yellow Combo Book, Suggestions for Coping With Urges to Gamble, and workbooks for the Recovery and Unity Steps are all available for downloading right here. These downloads are free, for personal use only. It’s a great way to take a few pieces of literature with you when you’re on the move.
If you have an e-reader (e.g. Kindle or Nook), the Combo Book and A Day at a Time book are available for purchase through Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You can also download the Kindle or Nook app onto your smartphone and access those two pieces.
Keep your literature close at hand, read it often, and spread the word about these excellent options!
Become a Lifeliner: Support the International Service Office (ISO) of GA!
The International Service Office (ISO) of Gamblers Anonymous performs many essential functions to support our fellowship. ISO sends out starter kits to new GA groups around the world, as well as prison kits to those that are incarcerated and seeking recovery. ISO manages the inventory of our GA literature, maintains a directory of international meetings, and answers countless questions from members.
